Cesca chairs

Designed by Marcel Breuer in the 1920s and named after his daughter, I dare you to find a more comfortable or versatile dining chair.

The design was never patented, meaning there have been and are loads of manufacturers, including versions that are equally high quality, but much more affordable, than the current name brand designer ones. They're also easily repairable - trust someone whose four year old has put more than one foot through a caned seat (and now has cushions on them.)
